Paradise was lost 9,500 BC, the myth of the original sin is in the stars

According to Jeffrey Rose’s Gulf Oasis theory (2010), Paradise was lost 11,500 ybp (years before present). The Arabo-Persian Gulf basis was above water during the last ice age and there was a huge sweet water lake in what is now sea. If so, it served as a refugee for many animals.  There is some evidence from later studies on mitochondrial DNA haplogroup N that modern humans lived to this area after they had migrated from Africa some 60,000 years ago. When the ice age ended and the sea level started to rise, the barrier between the lake and the sea broke and salty sea water destroyed sweet water resources both for humans and for animals. It happened very fast, apparently in one lifetime, between 11,520-11,450 ybp. Humans run out of game and had to turn into agriculture.

The sea level reached a maximum about 5,000-6,000 ybp and was 4 m higher than today.

This is a very interesting theory and I think it is correct even though the theory has not been often investigated in scientific literature after 2010. If this was the loss of Paradise, then how does it relate to the myth of the original sin?

Already much earlier I concluded that many of the old myths talk of star constellations and especially of the Pole Star and stars around it. A snake features in the myth of the original sin in the Bible. Fortunately that is easy: there is only one snake in the night sky in the Northern hemisphere, the constellation Draco. Additionally we know the time when the Paradise was lost: 9,500 BC. That is all that is needed. The myth is easily explained.

There is a woman in the sky. It is the Milky Way. It is the woman in the Finnish mythology. She swims in a sea and a bird (constellation Cygnus, the Swan, also known as the vulture) lands on her leg. Actually it is not quite the leg. The brightest star of Cygnus, Deneb, is quite there where the legs join. It is very appropriate that the woman gives birth to the world.

We can assume this woman is Eve of the biblical story, but people of the Middle East did not understand the Milky Way as one woman. They understood it as Adam and Eve with the Tree of Life between them. The Tree of Life is the axis mundi, the world pillar, which is a pillar connecting the Earth to the Heavens. This pillar is fixed with a nail to the Heaven, the Pole Star. The Pole Star marks the heavenly North Pole and the night sky circulates around the pole. Thus, it is the place of Heaven: everything circulates around it, but it is fixed and in rest. Because of precession of the equinoxes the Pole Star moves and often there is no Pole Star to mark the heavenly North Pole. The Finnish myth of Sampo tells of one time when the world pillar was shaken and the pillar was lost. But we are now in the biblical myth of the original sin.

Around 17,000-15,000 BC Deneb was the Pole Star, the Tree of Life, the tree in the center of everything. Adam and Eve are described as standing on both sides of the Tree of Life. This helps us to identify Adam and Eve: Eve is the shorter part of the Milky Way, one leg of the Finnish sky woman. Adam is the other part: the body of the sky woman and the other leg. Deneb is between them. Now we can understand why Eve was created from the rib of Adam. Eve, the other leg, is indeed connected to Adam roughly at the place where he could have the rib. Adam and Eve were in Heaven, the seat of God, as everything circulated around Deneb. The Pole Star was not quite the Tree of Life, it was the nail, the fruit of the Tree of Life.

But times change and the heavenly Pole moved. It moved over Eve. Eve ate the forbidden fruit and swallowed the fruit of Tree of Life. The heavenly Pole moved further to Vega. Vega in Lyra was the apple that Eve offered to the man. Only this man is not Adam, it is Hercules. We can see that the Bible modified the myths. In Egyptian mythology Seth, the brother of Osiris, seduced the wife of Osiris. If we identify Osiris with Adam, the part of the Milky Way, and Seth with Hercules, this myth makes sense.

There is the snake. The head of Draco is just next to Hercules urging him to eat the forbidden fruit, and Hercules does it. The heavenly Pole moved to Hercules in 9,500 BC and just at that time the Gulf Oasis submerged under the sea and humans had to leave Paradise and start agriculture.

This sin of Eve was not only giving the fruit of the Tree of Life to her man. She gave it to another man. This other man, Seth for Egyptians, fought with Draco. This can be guessed from the positions of Draco and Hercules. Hercules won, as he got the Tree of Life, but later, around 3,000 BC, the Pole Star was Thuban in Draco. That is another story. The Egyptian myth tells that Seth killed Osiris. It probably means that for some time Osiris was not seen. This makes no sense if we assume Osiris was Orion, as he later certainly was. It makes lots of sense if we assume that the Earth’s atmosphere was once darkened so much that the Milky Way was not seen. But later Osiris was restored, however without penis.

What is this about a missing penis? It must be something with stars. We have to see a star map. We can notice that the Milky Way can appear as broken into many pieces, like Seth broke Osiris into many pieces after he managed to get out of the coffin. If you are willing to see a woman or a man and a woman in the Milky Way, it does not take much imagination to see a penis as some part of the figure, which must then belong to a man. If the penis was missing at some point, the atmosphere had still not cleared completely by the time this myth was created. The myth of Osiris and Seth is very old, it is first known from the Old Kingdom, but it may be much older than that.

Let us continue with the real world. What else had happened a few thousands of years before 9,500 BC. Around 16,000 BC, and that is an important date since Deneb was the Pole Star at that time, there appeared the Magdalenian culture in Spain. They seem to have been Aurignacians, who managed to push back Gravettian people. Magdalenian people had invented a spear thrower, today known by an American Indian name atlatl. Bow and arrow were used in Europe only some thousand years later, but that should not be interpreted that people did not know bow and arrow: it was known already in Africa 61,000 years ago. The problem was that you do not hunt mammoths with a bow and arrow. Their fur is too thick. Atlatl istead, it is a very powerful weapon. Bow and arrow become popular in Europe after mammoths were gone, and humans hunted them to extinction. Magdalenian people had dogs. Dogs could keep mammoths in place long enough for hunters to kill them with spears and spear throwers. When people moved to Americas they had dogs and spear throwers and they killed most of megafauna. People killed megafauna also in Australian and Africa without dogs or spear throwers, but those were not mammoths. African elephants did survive. Magdalenian people started this, but very soon Gravettian people adopted the new hunting methods and Epi-Gravettian culture spread all the way to Volga. As already was mentioned, the new weapons spread through Siberia to America and Asia. That finished most of megafauna, though climate change had its role. Yet, it was not only climate as mammoths did survive very long in an island Russian ice sea where there were no people.

All large game was gone by 9,500 BC. People hunted reindeers, but apparently they did not catch that many as hunter gatherer populations faced a major genetic bottleneck. People, who started herding animals or cultivating plants were the only ones to manage well. There were three early agriculturalists: those in Levant, those in Anatolia and those in Zargos Mountains in Iran. All were in a fairly small area, as the last glacial maximum pushed people and animals to the south of Eurasia.

These three groups were all quite different. The Levantine people, Natufians, started cultivating rye and living in fixed houses. The ones in Anatolia started with wheat and pigs and they made beer. Those in Iran tamed goats and cultivated barley, but were a bit behind these two groups. They started making wine. Genetically the Levantine people had Y-DNA haplogroup derivants of E1b1b. They spread to Northern Africa and Egyptians may be rather close to them. Anatolian farmers had Y-DNA haplogroup G2a and they spread to Europe. Sardinians are closes to those people. Zagros Mountain herders and farmers may have had haplogroup P, as Parsi priests today, or L. They also had some Y-DNA haplogroup J, which they got from Caucasian Hunter Gatherers.

Y-DNA J is first found in Iranian Mesolithic (Calcolithic) people and in Bronze Age Jordan. It seems that J1 came to Levant and Arabia a bit later. Akkadians conquered Sumer, they were the first Semitic people in the history. Greeks spread J2 in the Bronze Age. I was widely spread in Europe already in Gravettian.

But let us return back to the myths. Where did it originate? The key is the Tree of Life, axis mundi. I find it impossible that such a myth would develop in a place where there are no so high mountains that they could not be climbed. Greeks thought that gods live on the mountain Olympus, but naturally they could climb the mountain and check. Thus, the myth is not originally from there. Everything points to Pakistan, the great mountains near Himalaya. Those mountains go above clouds and they are very difficult to climb. In that area people could imagine that there is a mountain so high that it supports the sky, axis mundi. As this myth is from Pakistan, Nepal, and the Y-DNA haplogroup F is from that area, our culture has originated there. If there were people in the Arabo-Persian Gulf Oasis since 60,000 ybp, they did not develop these myths and thus they did not develop the culture we have.
